Why

  1. MUNCH has free entry on the first Wednesday of each month from 18:00 to 21:00, except in July, August and September, while an adult ticket otherwise costs NOK 220.
  2. Bymuseet and Teatermuseet share an adult ticket of NOK 130, but entry is free for everyone on the first Thursday of the month, as it is at Interkulturelt Museum.
  3. The Vigeland Museum charges NOK 120 for adults, but children aged 0–17 and Oslo Pass holders get in free, and the park outside costs nothing.

Details

Oslo City Hall is open to everyone most days from 9:00 to 16:00 and offers free guided tours in summer. Visit Oslo's list of free attractions also includes Akershus Fortress, Oslo Cathedral, the Botanical Garden and Ekebergparken Sculpture Park. If you plan several paid museums, the Oslo Pass gives free entry to more than 30 museums and attractions and costs NOK 580 for 24 hours.

Tip

Plan the trip around the free evenings: MUNCH on the first Wednesday and the Oslo Museum venues on the first Thursday of the month. At MUNCH, drop-in visitors get their free ticket at the museum.

What may differ

Students pay reduced prices at many museums, for example NOK 65 at Bymuseet and NOK 120 at the National Museum. At MUNCH, visitors under 25 pay NOK 100.
