Can you shower and do laundry at Norwegian campsites?
Showers, washing machines and how you pay.
Short answer
Classified campsites in Norway must have showers with hot and cold water, and at Topcamp sites and Preikestolen Camping the showers are included in the price. Laundry is not available everywhere: the camping guide marks washing machines and tumble dryers with their own symbols. Where there is a laundry room, it may cost extra.
Why
- The Nordic star requirements in the Norwegian camping guide state that showers and washbasins must have hot and cold water and that sanitary facilities must be under a roof.
- Topcamp, which calls itself Norway's largest camping chain, lists 'shower included' among the things always included in its rates.
- Preikestolen Camping includes hot showers and Wi-Fi in its pitch price.
Details
Geiranger Camping asks you to pay for its laundry by bank card, and Svinøya Rorbuer in Svolvær has a self-service laundry room for a fee. Lofoten Beach Camp lists 16 showers and a laundry with dryers among its facilities. Topcamp sites also have a shared kitchen with a stove and washing-up facilities.
Tip
Carry a bank card for laundry machines, and check the campsite's facility list or symbols before you arrive if you need to wash clothes.
