What time is check-in and check-out at hotels in Norway?
Standard times, early check-in and late check-out at the big chains.
Short answer
At the Thon, Scandic and Strawberry hotel chains, check-in usually starts at 15:00 or 16:00 and check-out is by 12:00 noon. Scandic charges about NOK 200 for check-in from 10:00 or check-out until 16:00, and Thon offers late check-out until 18:00 on Sundays in Norway.
Why
- Thon Hotels says you can usually check in at its hotels in Norway from 15:00, and check-out at most of them is at 12:00.
- Scandic's standard check-in time is 16:00, and the room is yours until 12:00 on the day of departure.
- Strawberry says guests can generally check in from 15:00 and check out by 12:00, but some hotels use 16:00 or 11:00.
Details
Early check-in at Scandic is offered from 10:00 for about 20 euros (NOK 200), depending on availability, and late check-out until 16:00 costs the same. Thon includes late check-out on Sundays at its hotels in Norway, up to 18:00, if you tell the front desk when you arrive. Higher levels in the chains' loyalty programmes give extra time, for example Thon Platinum members can stay until 15:00 on any day when there is capacity.
Tip
If you arrive late, tell the hotel in advance: Thon asks guests arriving after 16:00 to notify the hotel if the stay is not prepaid.
What may differ
Times can differ between individual hotels, so check the hotel's page or the booking confirmation. Strawberry also sends the times by email a few days before the stay.
