Do hotels in Norway clean your room every day?
Cleaning rules at Scandic and Strawberry hotels and how to ask for cleaning.
Short answer
Not every hotel cleans daily: Scandic cleans rooms during a stay only when you ask, and some Strawberry hotels such as Comfort Hotel Grand Central clean every four days. Others, such as Clarion Hotel The Edge in Tromsø, list daily cleaning. At Scandic the cleaning is free, and you ask at check-in or by 23:00 the day before.
Why
- Scandic says cleaning during the stay is optional for all guests staying more than one night and is available at no extra cost.
- Strawberry's room pages for Comfort Hotel Grand Central in Oslo and Comfort Hotel RunWay at Oslo Airport list room cleaning every four days.
- Clarion Hotel The Edge in Tromsø, also a Strawberry hotel, lists room cleaning every day for its room types.
Details
Long stays can have less frequent cleaning: the long-stay offers at Comfort Hotel RunWay and Quality Airport Hotel Gardermoen include weekly room cleaning. Rules can differ between hotels in the same chain, so read the room description when you book. At Thon and other chains, ask at reception how often the room is cleaned.
Tip
Tell reception at check-in which days you want the room cleaned; at Scandic the deadline is 23:00 the day before.
What may differ
Cleaning frequency can differ between hotels in the same chain and for long stays, as the Strawberry room pages show.
