Short answer

In Trondheim you can rent a city bike through the Trondheim Bysykkel app, which unlocks red bikes and white e-bikes at stations around the city. A 3-day Discover Trondheim pass costs NOK 119 and a 30-day subscription NOK 175. The season runs from March to November, depending on the weather.

Why

  1. Visit Trondheim describes Trondheim Bysykkel as an app-based bike sharing service with more than 700 bikes and 67 stations.
  2. With pay as you go you pay a NOK 3 registration fee, NOK 8 to unlock and NOK 1 per minute for the first 20 minutes on a regular bike, while Discover Trondheim covers up to 3 hours per trip for 3 days.
  3. With a 7, 30, 60, 90 or 180-day ticket in the AtB app, you can use the city bikes free for up to 30 minutes per trip.

Details

The 30-day subscription renews automatically every 30 days and includes 60 minutes per trip on a regular bike. E-bikes cost NOK 5 extra to unlock on the passes, plus NOK 1.50 per minute for the first 20 minutes. An Autumn pass 2026 costs NOK 299 and is valid until 30 November. When you park, check in the app that the bike has been registered as returned. The scheme is run by UIP Bauer Media Outdoor Norge AS.

Tip

If you have an AtB period ticket, unlock the bike from the map in the AtB app and stand near it, so the free 30 minutes are used.

What may differ

Outside the season, usually from December to February, the city bikes are not in use. The start and end of the season depend on the weather.
