When do the last T-bane and trams run at night in Oslo?
Last metro and tram, first morning metro and night buses.
Short answer
Most Oslo T-bane lines run until after 01:00 at night and some start before 05:00, while the last trams leave well after midnight. Exact last departures vary by line and stop, so check Ruter's journey planner. On the nights to Saturday and Sunday, night buses marked N take over from around 01:00.
Why
- Sporveien, which runs the metro, says the T-bane day starts before 05:00 on some lines and lasts until after 01:00 on most of them.
- Sporveien says trams run every 10 minutes on weekday daytimes and every 20 or 30 minutes early in the morning, in the evening and at weekends, and that the last tram can take you home well after midnight.
- Ruter says the metro usually does not run at night, while its N night buses run on the nights to Saturday and Sunday, mostly from around 01:00 until the morning routes take over.
Details
On the busiest metro lines trains run every 6–9 minutes in the daytime, and on the others every 15 minutes. In November and December 2025 Ruter tested a night metro on lines 2 and 3 between about 01:00 and 04:00, but in April 2026 it chose to improve night buses instead. Night buses take ordinary Ruter tickets.
Tip
Look up your last metro or tram in the Ruter app before you go out, and note which N night bus covers your route in case you miss it.
What may differ
On other nights of the week there are no N night buses, although some regular lines run a reduced night service.
