Where does the Bybanen light rail go in Bergen, and how often does it run?
Two lines, frequencies, first departures and night trips.
Short answer
Bybanen line 1 runs from Byparken to Bergen Airport Flesland and line 2 from Kaigaten to Fyllingsdalen, with line 1 leaving every 5–10 minutes most of the weekday. The first departure from Byparken is at 05:45, and on Friday and Saturday nights there are night departures until 04:00. The trip to the airport takes about 45 minutes.
Why
- Skyss lists line 1 as Byparken to Bergen lufthavn Flesland and line 2 as Kaigaten to Fyllingsdalen terminal.
- The line 1 timetable valid from 10 August 2026 shows departures every 5 or 7–8 minutes on weekday daytimes and every 10 minutes in the evening.
- In the same timetable, the 05:45 departure from Byparken reaches Bergen lufthavn Flesland at 06:29, a trip of 44 minutes.
Details
Line 1 passes Fantoft and Hop on the way to the airport, and line 2 serves Haukeland University Hospital. At the airport, Bybanen stops on the lower floor of the terminal. Night departures, marked N in the timetable, run on the nights to Saturday and Sunday.
Tip
Buy the ticket before you board, because Bybanen sells none on board: an adult ticket for the whole trip to the airport costs NOK 51.
What may differ
Timetables change with the seasons and on public holidays. In summer 2026, buses replaced Bybanen on part of line 1 from 29 June to 26 July.
