Short answer

In Oslo and Trondheim you can rent an e-bike through Oslo Bysykkel and Trondheim Bysykkel, paying NOK 8 to unlock plus NOK 2 a minute without a pass. Three-day Discover passes cost NOK 119 in both cities. In Oslo, Bolt also rents e-bikes, and Viking Biking has e-bikes except from November to April.

Why

  1. Oslo Bysykkel's white e-bikes cost NOK 8 to unlock and NOK 2 a minute on pay-as-you-go, after a one-time registration fee of NOK 3.
  2. Trondheim Bysykkel also has white e-bikes, at NOK 8 to unlock and NOK 2 a minute for the first 20 minutes on pay-as-you-go.
  3. In Oslo, Bolt offers on-demand e-bikes in its app, and Viking Biking in the city centre rents e-bikes except from November through April.

Details

Passes make e-bikes cheaper per minute: with Oslo Bysykkel's Discover Oslo pass (NOK 119 for three days) or 30-day pass (NOK 179), an e-bike costs NOK 1.90 a minute for the first 15 minutes and NOK 1 after that, plus the unlock fee. Bolt shows its prices in the app. Viking Biking is at Nedre Slottsgate 4J, includes a helmet and lock, and rents to riders aged 13 and over.

Tip

If you will ride on several days, compare a pass with pay-as-you-go in the app first, since passes lower the price per minute on e-bikes.

What may differ

Seasons differ: Oslo Bysykkel is open all year with fewer studded-tyre bikes in winter, while Trondheim Bysykkel's autumn pass runs only until 30 November.
