How much does an e-scooter cost in Oslo, and which companies operate there?

The three operators, how prices work and the city's rules.

Short answer

E-scooters in Oslo come from Bolt, Ryde and Voi, and each company sets its own price, which you see in its app or in the Ruter app. The Ruter app charges the same as the operator, paid per trip by card. Rentals close from 23:00 to 05:00, and the age limit is 15 or 16.

Why

  1. The City of Oslo says you will find e-scooters from Bolt, Ryde and Voi in large parts of the city, and caps the number of small electric vehicles for rent at 16,000.
  2. Ruter says the prices in its app always match what the individual operators charge, and passes bought from the operators cannot be used there.
  3. Bolt's Oslo page publishes no scooter tariff and tells riders to check prices in the app.

Details

The city requires the service to close at night from 23:00 to 05:00. You may not rent an e-scooter if you are under 15, or rent one for someone under 15, and some operators set the limit at 16. Park in marked scooter bays, against a wall or in bike racks, but not in Oslo City Bike racks.

Tip

Open two or three of the apps and compare the price shown before you unlock, since each operator sets its own fares.

What may differ

Oslo City Bike is a separate service with published prices, and its minimum age for rental is 18.
