How much is a monthly Ruter pass in Oslo?
Current 30-day prices for zone 1 and when the ticket pays off.
Short answer
A 30-day Ruter ticket for zone 1 (Oslo) costs NOK 655 for adults, after Ruter cut the price from NOK 805 on 3 May 2026. Children and youth pay NOK 238, students NOK 393 and seniors aged 67 or over NOK 328. Ruter says the lower price applies until 3 May 2027.
Why
- On 3 May 2026 Ruter cut the adult 30-day price in zone 1 by NOK 150, from NOK 805 to NOK 655, and the child and youth price from NOK 338 to NOK 238.
- For adults, the May 2026 cut ranged from NOK 100 to NOK 400 a month, depending on how many zones the ticket covers.
- Fares are decided by elected politicians in Oslo and Akershus on Ruter's proposal, and the regular yearly price change takes place on the third Sunday of January.
Details
The ticket is valid from the moment you activate it until the 30 days run out, and inside Oslo and Akershus it also works on Vy trains in the zones it covers. The student price is for full-time students under 30 with a Norwegian student ID. Buy the ticket in the Ruter app or load it onto a physical travel card, which costs NOK 50.
Tip
At NOK 46 per adult single ticket, 15 trips in zone 1 cost NOK 690, which is already more than the 30-day ticket.
What may differ
If you travel into Akershus, you need a ticket for more zones, and it costs more than the zone 1 ticket. Upper secondary pupils aged 19–26 also get a discount on the 30-day ticket.
