Which parking apps do I need in Norway?

City apps, EasyPark and its fee, and how a parking session works.

Short answer

EasyPark works in Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim, but each city also has its own app: Bil i Oslo, Parkering i Bergen and SmartPark in Trondheim. EasyPark adds a service fee of 15% of the parking price. In Bergen, the municipality notes that its own app is free, while EasyPark adds that surcharge.

Why

  1. Oslo kommune accepts payment at the parking machine or in the Bil i Oslo, EasyPark, ParkLink, Skanpark, Apcoa Flow and Flowbird apps.
  2. Bergen kommune says its free app Parkering i Bergen also pays the studded tyre fee, and that EasyPark works only at some private and public car parks.
  3. In Trondheim you can pay with the municipality's SmartPark app, which charges only for the time you are parked, or with the EasyPark or Apcoa apps, by text message or at a machine.

Details

To pay with EasyPark, open the app, choose the area where you are parked or search for its code, spin the wheel to set the time and tap to confirm. If you come back early, stop the parking with a tap. The fee is at least NOK 4.90, or you can pay NOK 49 a month for EasyPark Go, which has no fee per parking.

Tip

Check the zone code on the sign or machine before you start, and make sure the parking shows as active in the app before you leave the car.

What may differ

Private car parks often use their own systems: Trondheim Parkering AS, for example, lets you pay on its website within 48 hours after parking. Always follow the sign at the car park.
