Short answer

According to Ruter, a 24-hour ticket can pay off if you make more than three trips in one day within the zones it covers. An adult single ticket for zone 1 costs NOK 46 and lasts 60 minutes. For a 7-day ticket, compare its price in the Ruter app with your daily trips.

Why

  1. Ruter says the 24-hour ticket can be cost-effective if you travel more than three times within a day.
  2. Ruter's period tickets come as 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day and 365-day tickets and are valid from the moment you activate them until the period ends.
  3. An adult single ticket for one zone costs NOK 46 and is valid for 60 minutes, with 30 minutes more for each extra zone.

Details

The entire metro network is in zone 1, and a ticket for zone 1 is valid on all lines within the zone. Trips to Nesodden, Asker or the airport need a ticket for more zones. Children under 6 travel free.

Tip

If you also plan to visit museums, compare with the Oslo Pass, which includes public transport in Oslo and nearby areas, including Oslo Airport, for 24, 48 or 72 hours.

What may differ

Ruter tickets are not valid on Flytoget or on the Bygdøy ferries, so those trips cost extra whichever ticket you choose.
