Answered at: Checked at:

Short answer

A Skyss single ticket is valid for 60 minutes in one zone from purchase or activation, with 30 more minutes for each extra zone. A 24-hour ticket is valid in the zones you bought it for, and season tickets last 7, 30 or 180 days. Trips within Bergen municipality stay in zone A.

Why

  1. Skyss's fare regulations, valid from 1 July 2026, say a single ticket is valid for 60 minutes from when it is bought or activated.
  2. For each additional zone the ticket is valid for a further 30 minutes, so a two-zone ticket lasts 90 minutes and a three-zone ticket 120 minutes.
  3. Zone A covers Bergen, Askøy, Øygarden, Osterøy, Alver, Austrheim, Fedje and the former Os municipality.

Details

24-hour tickets and season tickets of 7, 30 and 180 days are valid in the zone or zones you bought them for. On buses you can buy single and 24-hour tickets on board, but on Bybanen you must have a ticket before you board. If you pay on board with a bank card, the card can serve as your ticket, and tapping it on a terminal shows how long it is valid.

Tip

Buy or activate the ticket just before you board, since the 60 minutes start counting from that moment.

What may differ

Boats, ferries, express buses and the airport bus have their own prices, and on trains only certain Skyss tickets are valid, on Vossebanen and the Arna local trains.
