Which home internet provider is best in Norway?
The largest providers, fibre or wireless, and how to check your address.
Short answer
No provider is best everywhere, because the choice depends on your address, but Altibox, Telenor and Telia are the largest and together have more than three quarters of subscriptions. Fibre is the most common connection: 77 per cent of private subscriptions used fibre at the end of 2025. Enter your address on providers' websites to see what is available.
Why
- At the end of 2025 Altibox had 33.6 per cent of fixed broadband subscriptions, Telenor 26.6 per cent and Telia 16.3 per cent, according to Nkom.
- Nkom reports that 77 per cent of private broadband subscriptions were based on fibre at the end of 2025.
- Altibox says the exact prices of its products are set by your nearest Altibox provider, so they vary from place to place.
Details
Fixed broadband reaches the home by fibre, cable TV network or old copper telephone lines, while mobile broadband uses the mobile networks. Where there is no fibre, wireless broadband over the mobile network is an option: Telia offers it at 25 to 500 Mbit/s with unlimited data. Nkom's speed test Nettfart.no shows the speed you actually get.
Tip
Check the binding period before you sign: all of Telia's wireless broadband plans, for example, have a 12-month binding period.
What may differ
Where there is no fibre, the options are wireless broadband over the mobile network or satellite internet: Nkom notes that Starlink has been available across Norway since late 2022.
