Can I buy a SIM card at Oslo Airport?

Shops at Gardermoen, prepaid starter packs and registering without BankID.

Answered at: Checked at:

Short answer

Oslo Airport has no Telia, Telenor or other phone operator shop, but Narvesen, one of the chains that sell prepaid starter packs, has kiosks in the arrivals area. Avinor's shop list does not say whether these kiosks stock SIM cards. A Telia starter pack must be registered with BankID or in a Telia shop, while Mycall accepts a passport.

Why

  1. Avinor's list of shops at Oslo Airport includes no mobile operator, and the only electronics shop, Capi Electronics, is located at the gates.
  2. Telia sells a starter pack for 29 kroner with 30 kroner of credit at Narvesen and 7-Eleven, and its 99-kroner pack in Telia shops and at Power and Elkjøp.
  3. Mycall says its starter packs are sold only at 7-Eleven and Narvesen.

Details

Telia says a starter pack must be registered to its user before it can be used, and without BankID or a Norwegian personal number you should buy it in a Telia shop. Mycall states that it has no BankID requirement and accepts a passport or other valid ID. Avinor offers free Wi-Fi at its airports for four hours, which you can use to set up an eSIM after landing.

Tip

If you want a Telia SIM and have no BankID, buy the starter pack in a Telia shop in Oslo rather than at a kiosk, so you can register it straight away.
