Is Starlink available in Norway, and is it worth it?
Coverage, equipment price, speeds and alternatives on the ground.
Short answer
Starlink satellite internet has covered all of Norway since late 2022, and it is most useful at addresses without fibre or good mobile coverage. Elkjøp sells the Standard Kit for NOK 3,990, and a separate Starlink subscription is required. Elkjøp lists typical downloads of 25–225 Mbit/s, against an average of 167 Mbit/s for fixed internet in Nkom's 2025 report.
Why
- Nkom writes that internet access via low Earth orbit satellites from Starlink became available across Norway towards the end of 2022.
- Elkjøp's product page says the dish works anywhere with a clear view of the sky, with uploads of 5–20 Mbit/s and an average download of 100 Mbit/s for most users.
- Nkom gives 2025 averages from its Nettfart tests of 167 Mbit/s download on fixed internet and 222 Mbit/s with 36 ms latency on 5G.
Details
Whether Starlink is worth it depends on what else you can get at the address. On the ground, Telia's wireless broadband over the mobile network costs NOK 738–1,148 a month at ordinary prices, with unlimited data and a 12-month binding period. Starlink's monthly fee comes on top of the kit price, so check it on Starlink's website for your address.
Tip
Before you buy the kit, find a spot on the property where the dish will have a clear view of the sky.
What may differ
The speed figures above are a retailer's typical range and Nkom's averages from users' own tests, so the speed at your address can be different.
