Can I get an unlimited data SIM in Norway?
Unlimited plans, their speed and roaming limits, and prepaid options.
Short answer
Unlimited mobile data in Norway comes with monthly subscriptions, such as Ice's iceMax at NOK 399 a month or Telia's unlimited plan from NOK 499. Telia's prepaid data packs stop at 50 GB. Unlimited plans still have limits: Telenor slows Ubegrenset Enkel to 3 Mbit/s after 100 GB, and iceMax includes 60 GB for EU/EEA use.
Why
- Ice lists iceMax at NOK 399 a month with speeds up to 200 Mbps, and iceMax med Netflix at NOK 449 with speeds up to 300 Mbps.
- Telenor says Ubegrenset Enkel drops to 3 Mbit/s after 100 GB until the next month, and Ubegrenset Maksimal slows down after 200 GB.
- Ice says it needs your national identity number to run a credit check before you order a subscription.
Details
Ice says all its plans include free calls, SMS and MMS and can be used as normal in the EU/EEA. Telia lets you choose the speed on its unlimited plan, up to 1,000 Mbit/s, and lists NOK 549 a month as the regular price before discount. On prepaid, Telia sells data packs of 3, 7, 12, 20 or 50 GB, each valid for 31 days.
Tip
If you need a lot of data in a flat or cabin without fixed broadband, compare an unlimited mobile plan with a 4G or 5G router, since Telia's Trådløst Bredbånd also has unlimited data.
What may differ
People under 30 pay less: Telia offers unlimited data to young people at a lower price, and Telenor gives an age discount to everyone under 30.
