Gyms in Drammen: 7 centres in Bragernes, Strømsø, Åssiden and by the fjord

This page lists gyms in Drammen on both sides of the river and outside the centre: in Bragernes, in Strømsø and Grønland, and out at Åssiden, Tangen and Nøsted. It shows whether a gym has a reception desk and group classes, lets you in early in the morning or is open round the clock: each card has the address, opening hours and a short description.

Cards checked on 7 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

The river divides the centre: where the gyms are

  • Bragernes: both gyms are east of the square, one about 350 metres away and the other just over a kilometre.
  • South of the river: just under 500 metres from Strømsø torg to the gym in Grønland, about 700 metres to the gym in Strømsø.
  • Åssiden: about 4.7 kilometres up the river from Bragernes torg.
  • Tangen and Nøsted: just over two and just under four kilometres from Strømsø torg, out towards the fjord.

The centre of Drammen lies on both sides of the river, with Bragernes to the north and Strømsø to the south, and the two squares are just over 300 metres apart in a straight line. That is why the groups on this page are divided by the river. The distances are straight lines between map points, measured from Bragernes torg or Strømsø torg, so the walk is somewhat longer.

In Bragernes, the key-card gym has its address in Erik Børresens allé, right by Grev Wedels plass. The chain gym with group classes and childcare is in Brandtenborggata, next to the CC shopping centre, and states that parking outside is free. South of the river, the gym in Grønland is the one nearest the railway station, in Børsemakergata, about 250 metres from Union Scene: it has parking in its own basement while you train. The gym in Strømsø is in Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsons gate, just over 300 metres from the Marienlyst sports ground, and states one or two hours of free parking, depending on the parking level.

Outside the centre, one of the two 24-hour gyms is at Åssiden, in Betzy Kjelsbergs vei, less than 200 metres from Åssiden upper secondary school. The other two gyms in the group are on the south side, out towards the fjord: one in the middle of Tangen, in Havnegata, with 1,000 square metres and a sea view, and one at Nøsted Brygge in Svelvikveien, a kilometre and a half further out.

More gyms, including some at Konnerud and Gulskogen, are listed in the catalogue category Fitness & Sports Centers, together with sports halls, pitches and yoga studios. Guides from other cities are under Leisure and family.

Opening hours and staffing: reception desk, key card or 24 hours

  • Reception desk and group classes: one gym on each side of the river, both open 06:00 to 22:00 Monday to Thursday.
  • Early and late: 05:00 to midnight in Strømsø, 05:00 to 23:00 at Nøsted, 05:30 to 22:00 with a key card in Bragernes.
  • Round the clock: Åssiden and Tangen, both outside the centre.
  • Open 24 hours does not mean staffed: one gym is unstaffed, the other has staff in for two hours a week.

The two gyms with a reception desk and group classes, one in Bragernes and one in Grønland, keep almost the same hours: 06:00 to 22:00 Monday to Thursday and 06:00 to 21:00 on Friday. At the weekend both open at 08:00. The gym in Grønland closes at 20:00 on both days, and the chain gym in Bragernes at 19:00 on Saturday and 20:00 on Sunday (the gyms' websites, read on 7 October 2026).

Three gyms let you in earlier and let you stay later. The gym in Strømsø is open 05:00 to 24:00 and the gym at Nøsted 05:00 to 23:00, every day. In Bragernes, members let themselves in with a key card from 05:30 to 22:00 every day, but the gym is only partly staffed on weekdays and unstaffed at weekends and during holidays.

The 24-hour gyms are both outside the centre. The gym at Åssiden states that it is open round the clock, 365 days a year, and describes itself as unstaffed. Tangen also has access round the clock, and staff are there on Wednesdays from 15:00 to 17:00.

For two of the gyms the catalogue cards show different hours from the gyms themselves: 04:00 on weekday mornings for the gym in Strømsø, and 06:00 to 21:30 for the key-card gym in Bragernes. In the text we have used the hours from the gyms' own pages.

Lock-in periods, trials and what there is for children

  • No lock-in period: stated by the gyms in Strømsø and at Nøsted.
  • Your choice: a twelve-month lock-in or a rolling contract at Åssiden and Tangen.
  • Try first: 14 days free in Strømsø, a trial session at Tangen and drop-in through the app at Åssiden.
  • For children: childcare in Bragernes and karate from the age of four or five at Nøsted.

The lock-in terms differ from gym to gym. The gym in Strømsø states no lock-in period and access to all the chain's gyms. Nøsted has no lock-in either, but one month's notice, and the price is the same whatever your age. At Åssiden and Tangen you choose between a contract with a twelve-month lock-in and a rolling membership, and at Tangen you can freeze the membership for up to two months a year (the gyms' websites, read on 7 October 2026).

Four of the gyms let you try before you join. The gym in Strømsø states 14 days free, the gym at Tangen has a trial session, and at Åssiden you buy drop-in through the app. The chain gym in Bragernes also sells drop-in, which covers training on your own and group classes with free places that day.

If you bring children, the chain gym in Bragernes has childcare with its own hours: mornings and early evenings Monday to Thursday, mornings only on Friday and 09:00 to 13:00 at the weekend. The gym at Nøsted has karate for children from the age of four or five, alongside spinning, strength and cardio training. According to its card, the gym in Grønland has more than 60 group classes a week, classes for pregnant women and physiotherapy in the building.

There are no prices on this page: you will find them on the gyms' websites. You cannot phone the chain gym in Bragernes directly, so contact goes through the reception desk on site or the chain's customer service.
