Gyms in Kristiansand are arranged here by district: Tinnheia and Vågsbygd in the west, Gimle and Fagerholt north and north-east of Kvadraturen, and eastwards from Marvika to Sørlandsparken. The page helps you find a centre close to home or work, and see whether it suits training on your own early and late or classes with an instructor: the cards show the address, opening hours and a short description, with a link to the centre's website.

Cards checked on 7 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Where the centres are: west, north-east and east of Kvadraturen

  • None of the centres on this page is in Kvadraturen: the nearest are about two kilometres away.
  • West: Tinnheia just over two kilometres from Kvadraturen, Vågsbygd from just under three to just over four.
  • At Fagerholt two centres are neighbours, about 60 metres apart.
  • Furthest east: Barstølveien in Sørlandsparken, almost nine kilometres from Kvadraturen.

The centres lie along a long line from west to east: from Grågåsveien in Vågsbygd to Barstølveien in Sørlandsparken it is almost 13 kilometres. The distances are straight lines between the map points, and we have used Markens gate as the middle of Kvadraturen.

In the west the 24-hour centre in Tinnheiveien is the nearest, just over two kilometres due west of Markens gate. Vågsbygd has two: a large chain centre in Fiskåveien, which according to its card lies along the main road through the district, and a strength gym in Grågåsveien 1.7 kilometres further west. The latter is housed in a former air-raid shelter inside the rock, according to the centre's website.

The centre at Gimle is in Universitetsveien, the same street as the university, two kilometres north of Kvadraturen. Fagerholt is 4.6 kilometres to the north-east. Two centres there are in Magnus Barfots vei, behind the grocery shops: one of them lists parking right outside.

Heading east, Marvika comes first, just over two kilometres from Kvadraturen. The centre at Rona is five and a half kilometres out, one floor up in the shopping centre, and its card mentions free parking. Furthest east is the centre in Barstølveien, at the same address as Sørlandstunet.

The category Fitness centres in the catalogue has 181 cards, and the centres in Kvadraturen are listed there too, together with sports halls, pitches and clubs. Other categories are on the page about Kristiansand, and pages on other themes are under Rankings of popular places.

Access and staffing: 24 hours in the west, 5 to midnight in the east

  • Round the clock: the centres in Tinnheiveien and Grågåsveien.
  • 5 to midnight, every day: the two at Fagerholt, Rona and Barstølveien.
  • Ordinary opening hours: Fiskåveien, Gimle and Marvika.
  • An open door does not mean that anyone is at work.

The two 24-hour centres on this page are both west of Kvadraturen. The centre in Tinnheiveien lists access 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and members in Grågåsveien can get in round the clock. Staffing is another matter: at Tinnheia it is posted on Facebook every Sunday for the coming week, and the centre answers the phone between 10 and 18 on weekdays (the centre's website, read on 6 October 2026).

Four centres give access from 5 to 24 every day: the two at Fagerholt, the centre at Rona and the centre in Barstølveien. At one of the Fagerholt centres you unlock the door with the app on your phone, in Barstølveien you use a key card, and the centre at Rona describes itself as unstaffed.

Three centres keep ordinary opening hours. The chain centre in Fiskåveien is open 6 to 22.30 Monday to Thursday, until 21 on Fridays, 8 to 19 on Saturdays and 8 to 21 on Sundays. The centre at Gimle lists 6 to 22 on weekdays and 9 to 20 at weekends for week 41, while the catalogue card says 10 at weekends: then the centre's own page applies. The group-training centre in Marvika is open 6 to 20 on weekdays and 8.30 to 13.30 on Saturdays according to its card, and Sunday is listed without opening hours.

Membership, trial sessions and offer: what the centres state

  • With or without a lock-in period: both contracts exist at Tinnheia and at one of the Fagerholt centres.
  • Drop-in: mentioned at Tinnheia and in Grågåsveien, and single visits at the reception in Fiskåveien.
  • Three free trial sessions: the group-training centre in Marvika.
  • Childcare, sauna and yoga room: the chain centre in Fiskåveien.

Look at the lock-in period before you look at anything else. The centre at Tinnheia and the 1,600-square-metre centre at Fagerholt both have two contracts: one with a twelve-month lock-in and one without, at a higher monthly price (the websites, read on 6 October 2026). The card for the chain centre in the health building next door mentions membership without a lock-in and access to the chain's other centres. Prices are not in the cards: they are on the centres' websites and change often.

If you want to try first, the group-training centre in Marvika has three free trial sessions, and classes there are booked in an app. Drop-in is mentioned at the two 24-hour centres in the west, and the strength gym in Grågåsveien also has punch cards. The chain centre in Fiskåveien sells single visits at the reception. At Tinnheia and at the large centre at Fagerholt a free session with a personal trainer comes with the membership.

The chain centre in Fiskåveien covers 1,300 square metres and has group classes, separate classes for seniors, a yoga room, a sauna and childcare, according to its card. The centre at Gimle has a gym floor and group classes and runs courses in swimming and climbing. At Fagerholt one of the centres lists more than 70 instructor-led classes a month. The centre at Tinnheia covers 750 square metres, with machines, a cardio section, a functional zone and free weights.

Age limits are neither in the cards nor on the pages we read. If you are under 18, ask the centre what applies before you join.
