How do I take the boat from Bergen to Rosendal, and where do I buy a ticket?
Departure point, travel time, ticket sales, prices and the stop at Flesland.
Short answer
Rødne's Hardangerfjord Express leaves Strandkaiterminalen in central Bergen and takes about two hours to Rosendal, with daily departures all year. Buy tickets at rodne.no for a guaranteed place, or at the Tourist Information, on the quay or on board if any are left. In October 2026 an adult ticket cost NOK 581 one way and NOK 872 return.
Why
- Rødne says the boat departs from Strandkaiterminalen in Bergen city centre and takes two hours each way.
- Rødne lists daily departures all year on the route between Bergen and Rosendal.
- Rødne's price list gives NOK 581 for an adult one way between Bergen and Rosendal and NOK 872 for a return trip.
Details
On board you can pay with all credit cards, including American Express, with Apple Pay or with cash in Norwegian kroner. The boat also stops at Flesland quay, and the Flybussen route FB55 links Bergen Airport with Flesland quay. In Rosendal, the Barony is about 1 km, or a 20–25-minute walk, from the quay. Be ready to board at least 20 minutes before departure, since tickets are not for a specific seat.
Tip
Book online at rodne.no if you have a fixed plan: tickets sold on the quay or on board depend on there being seats left.
What may differ
If you continue from Rosendal by bus, for example to Odda, the bus ticket is a separate Skyss ticket and cannot be bought on board the boat.
