How do I get from Bodø Airport to the city centre and the Lofoten ferry?

Walking, buses and the short trip to the ferry for Moskenes.

Short answer

Bodø Airport is only about one kilometre from the city centre, so you can walk in 10–15 minutes or take bus 1 or 4, which takes about 5 minutes. The ferry dock for Lofoten lies just north of the centre, about 5 minutes from the airport. The ferry to Moskenes takes about 3.5 hours.

Why

  1. Avinor says it is about one kilometre from the terminal down to the city centre, a walk of about 10–15 minutes along Hernesveien.
  2. Buses 1 and 4 stop just to the left of the main entrance, and line 1 runs every 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon and otherwise every 15 minutes on weekdays.
  3. Avinor places the ferry dock just north of Bodø city centre, about 5 minutes from the airport.

Details

Weekend bus timetables are more limited. The ferry from Bodø to Moskenes carries both cars and foot passengers, and booking is not mandatory. Foot passengers who do not book a reserved spot travel free, while drivers with a booking must be at the dock at least 45 minutes before departure.

Tip

In summer, book the car space at least a day ahead, since Visit Lofoten says there is more traffic then.
