Short answer

Yes, you can take the Bodø to Moskenes ferry as a foot passenger, and the trip is free if you do not book a reserved seat. Booking is not required, but each departure has 20 guaranteed seats for passengers without a vehicle, costing NOK 65 for an adult. All passengers must register name, nationality and date of birth.

Why

  1. Torghatten Nord states that travelling without a vehicle and without a reserved spot is free of charge.
  2. There are 20 guaranteed-seat tickets per departure for passengers without a vehicle, and you can book only two at a time.
  3. Visit Lofoten says the direct crossing takes about three and a half hours and that you can travel with a vehicle or on foot.

Details

With a guaranteed seat you must be at the port 45 minutes before departure to register. Without a booking you only need to be at the port before departure. Registration is digital: a QR code at the pier leads to the form, and you get a boarding pass that the crew scans.

Tip

In summer, consider reserving one of the 20 guaranteed seats, since Visit Lofoten advises ordering tickets at least one day ahead in the busy season.

What may differ

A guaranteed seat for a child, military or honnør (senior) passenger costs NOK 35 instead of NOK 65.
