How long does the Bybanen light rail take from Bergen Airport, and how much does it cost?
Travel time, frequency, fares, where to buy the ticket and where the stop is.
Short answer
Bybanen line 1 takes about 45 minutes from Bergen Airport to the city centre, and an adult single ticket in zone A costs NOK 51. The light rail runs to Byparken, stopping at Bergen busstasjon on the way, and leaves the airport every 5–8 minutes for most of the weekday daytime. You cannot buy a ticket on board.
Why
- In Skyss's line 1 timetable valid from 10 August 2026, the first tram leaves Bergen lufthavn Flesland at 05:11 and reaches Byparken at 05:55.
- Skyss prices the trip between the airport and the city centre at NOK 51 for adults, NOK 26 for children aged 6–17 and seniors, and NOK 30 for students.
- Visit Bergen says you buy the ticket from the machine on the platform or in the Skyss Billett app, and Skyss sells no tickets on board Bybanen.
Details
The Bybanen stop is on the lower floor of the terminal building, and the airport is 16 km from Bergen city centre. On the way into town the tram also stops at the bus terminals Birkelandsskiftet, Lagunen and Nesttun, where you can change to buses around Bergen. In the evening the airport service runs about every 10 minutes, and at night less often.
Tip
If you are short of time, compare with Flybussen: Visit Bergen says it takes about 30 minutes to the centre and costs NOK 189 online or NOK 220 on board.
What may differ
The price is the same from the city centre to the airport, since the whole trip is within Skyss zone A, which covers Bergen municipality.
