What time does the DFDS ferry leave Oslo, and how long is the crossing?

Who runs the route now, departure and arrival times, and how long the crossing takes.

Short answer

DFDS no longer runs the Oslo to Copenhagen ferry: Go Nordic Cruiseline now sails the route, leaving Oslo at 16:30 and arriving in Copenhagen at 10:00 the next morning. The crossing takes about 17 hours. The ferry from Copenhagen also leaves at 16:30 and reaches Oslo at 10:00. Gotlandsbolaget took over the route from DFDS on 1 November 2024.

Why

  1. Go Nordic Cruiseline's sailing schedule lists departures at 16:30 from both Oslo and Copenhagen, with arrival at 10:00 the next morning.
  2. Gotlandsbolaget, the Swedish shipping company behind Go Nordic Cruiseline, took over the Copenhagen to Oslo route from DFDS on 1 November 2024.
  3. Visit Oslo puts the crossing between the two capitals at about 17 hours.

Details

In Oslo the ferry uses the terminal at Akershusstranda 31, and in Copenhagen it docks at Dampfærgevej 30. Both terminals are open 09:00–16:30, and in Copenhagen a shuttle bus runs from the terminal to Nørreport and Copenhagen Central Station. The two ships on the route are Nordic Crown and Nordic Pearl.

Tip

Search for Go Nordic Cruiseline rather than DFDS when you book: older DFDS pages about this route are out of date.

What may differ

In 2027 there are periods when Nordic Pearl is in dock and the ferry sails only every other day, and some dates have no sailing at all, for example 5 and 6 January 2027 from Oslo.

Common misconception

DFDS still sails from Oslo to Copenhagen.

What actually happens

DFDS sold the route to the Swedish company Gotlandsbolaget, which has run it as Go Nordic Cruiseline since 1 November 2024.
