Where is the DFDS terminal in Oslo, and how do I get there?

Address, bus 60, walking routes and the trip to Oslo Airport.

Short answer

The former DFDS terminal is at Akershusstranda 31 on Vippetangen, just below Akershus Fortress, and Go Nordic Cruiseline now sails from there to Copenhagen. Bus 60 from Jernbanetorget takes about five minutes, or you can walk along the harbour promenade to the Opera House and the city centre in about 15 minutes.

Why

  1. Visit Oslo describes Go Nordic Cruiseline as formerly DFDS and places its terminal at the tip of Vippetangkaia, just below Akershus Fortress.
  2. Go Nordic Cruiseline gives its Oslo Terminal address as Akershusstranda 31, 0150 Oslo, open daily 09:00–16:30.
  3. Gotlandsbolaget took over the route between Copenhagen and Oslo from DFDS on 1 November 2024 and sails it as Go Nordic Cruiseline.

Details

To reach Oslo Airport from the terminal, take bus 60 back to Jernbanetorget by Oslo Central Station and change to Flytoget, which takes 19 minutes and leaves every ten minutes for most of the day. An adult Flytoget ticket from Oslo S costs NOK 276. The crossing to Copenhagen takes about 17 hours.

Tip

With heavy luggage, take bus 60 rather than walking; if you drive, short and long-term parking at the terminal is run by APCOA.

What may differ

In 2027 one of the two ships will be in dock for a period, and Go Nordic Cruiseline has said there will then be departures from Oslo only every other day.

Common misconception

DFDS still sails from Oslo to Copenhagen.

What actually happens

Gotlandsbolaget took over the route on 1 November 2024 and runs it as Go Nordic Cruiseline from the same terminal on Vippetangen.
