Where can I find car ferry timetables and a ferry map for Norway?

Entur, the Statens vegvesen map and the ferry companies' own timetables.

Short answer

Timetables for Norwegian car ferries are in the national journey planner Entur, and Statens vegvesen shows ferry routes on its online traffic map. Ferry companies such as Fjord1, Torghatten and Svipper in Troms also publish timetables for their own routes. Departures change between summer and winter, so check the timetable for your travel date.

Why

  1. Visit Norway says Entur shows all public transport options in Norway in one place and sells tickets for most journeys.
  2. On vegvesen.no, the link for travelling by ferry opens the national traffic map with the ferry layer switched on.
  3. Torghatten states that its digital timetables are based on timetables taken from Entur.

Details

Visit Norway also points to the Statens vegvesen website for ferry routes, departure times and traffic reports. In Troms, Svipper publishes each ferry route as a PDF timetable, such as route 181 between Botnhamn and Brensholmen, with extra summer trips from 1 May to 20 September. Some terminals have webcams that show whether a queue is building.

Tip

Search Entur by the names of the two quays, for example Moss and Horten, and choose your exact travel date, because many ferry timetables vary by season.
