Does Norwegian Air offer a student discount?

Who can book the youth ticket, how to get it and the conditions to know.

Answered at: Checked at:

Short answer

Norwegian's discount for young travellers is based on age rather than student status: passengers aged 12–25 can book a youth ticket on selected routes. Use the promo code UNDER26 or choose the youth ticket type when you book, and bring valid ID, since you must not be 26 or older on the day of departure.

Why

  1. Norwegian's youth ticket is for travellers aged between 12 and 25 who are not 26 or older on the date of departure.
  2. Norwegian says youth tickets apply only on selected routes in its network and depend on availability.
  3. You must be able to show valid ID, such as a passport, national ID card or driving licence, at check-in or boarding.

Details

Changing the date or time of a youth ticket has no change fee, but you pay any difference in price. Children aged 0–11 can travel on the same booking with an adult aged 16–25, but the children's discount does not apply to youth tickets, and unaccompanied minors cannot use them. Norwegian may charge a fee if a youth ticket is misused or the conditions are not met.

Tip

Students can also save on the way to the airport: Flytoget gives students half price with a valid ID card, NOK 138 instead of NOK 276 between Oslo Airport and Oslo S.

What may differ

If you are 26 or older on the day you fly, you cannot book the youth ticket, even if you are a student.

Common misconception

Norwegian gives a discount to anyone with a student card.

What actually happens

Norwegian's youth ticket depends on age, 12 to 25, not on being a student, and it is only available on selected routes.
