Short answer

OSL is the IATA code for Oslo Airport, and yes, it is the same airport as Gardermoen. Avinor uses the name Oslo Airport (OSL) Gardermoen, and the ICAO code is ENGM. Torp Sandefjord Airport, code TRF, is a separate and much smaller airport south of Oslo.

Why

  1. Avinor, the state-owned airport operator, titles its page Oslo Airport (OSL) Gardermoen.
  2. The airport opened at Gardermoen on 8 October 1998 and replaced the old airport at Fornebu, which closed the same day.
  3. TORP Sandefjord Airport uses the code TRF and has its address in Sandefjord.

Details

Gardermoen is the place where the airport lies, on the border between Ullensaker and Nannestad north-east of Oslo. Flytoget runs from the airport to Oslo S in 19 minutes. Torp lies about 119 km south of Oslo city centre and is mainly used by leisure and low-cost airlines.

Tip

When you book, check whether the ticket says OSL or TRF, as the two airports are far apart.

Common misconception

What actually happens
