How much does the train from Oslo to Bergen cost?
From-price, Lavpris rules, discounts and how to find a cheap day.
Short answer
Vy sells train tickets between Oslo and Bergen from NOK 359, but the cheap Lavpris tickets are sold in limited numbers, so it pays to book early. Lavpris tickets cannot be changed or refunded and are valid only on the departure you bought them for. The trip on the Bergen Line takes about seven hours.
Why
- Vy, which runs the Bergen Line, advertises the train from NOK 359 on its website.
- Vy describes Lavpris as one of its most popular tickets, sold in limited numbers, and advises buying early.
- A Lavpris ticket cannot be combined with other discounts, such as student or senior fares.
Details
On the Bergen Line, a Lavpris ticket comes with an assigned seat. Vy gives its from-price for the Bergen Line as a whole, not for one direction, so look up your own date and direction when travelling from Bergen to Oslo. The line has six to seven departures a day, and on the night train you can book a lie-flat seat with a PlusNight ticket.
Tip
Compare dates in Vy's low-price calendar (lågpriskalender) before you buy, and choose Lavpris only when your plans are fixed, since the ticket cannot be changed.
What may differ
Vy has discounts for children, students, people over 67, conscripts and groups, but these cannot be added on top of a Lavpris ticket.
