Can I break the Oslo to Bergen train journey at Finse, Myrdal or Voss?

Stations on the line, booking each leg and what to plan for.

Short answer

Yes, Finse, Myrdal and Voss are all stations on the Bergen Line, so you can get off there and continue to Bergen on a later train. Book the trip as two tickets, for example Oslo to Finse and Finse to Bergen. Vy runs 6–7 departures a day, so check the onward times first.

Why

  1. Vy lists 21 stations on the Bergen Line between Oslo S and Bergen, including Geilo, Finse, Myrdal and Voss.
  2. Vy itself suggests hopping off at Finse to step straight onto the high mountain plateau.
  3. Myrdal is where the Flåm Railway starts its run down to Flåm, a trip of about an hour.

Details

Vy lists these stations on the line: Oslo S, Sandvika, Asker, Drammen, Hokksund, Vikersund, Hønefoss, Flå, Nesbyen, Gol, Ål, Geilo, Ustaoset, Haugastøl, Finse, Hallingskeid, Myrdal, Voss, Dale, Arna and Bergen. The whole trip takes about 6.5 to 7.5 hours, depending on whether you take a day or a night train. A Flex ticket lets you change the departure time as many times as you want and choose your own seat, which helps if you are unsure when you will travel on.

Tip

Look up the onward departure from Finse, Myrdal or Voss in the Vy app before you book, so you know how long you can stay.

What may differ

As of 15 October 2026 a train drivers' strike was affecting Vy trains, and Vy said it could not provide alternative transport during the strike. Check vy.no before you travel.
