Is the Bank Norwegian credit card worth it?

Fees, CashPoints, insurance and interest at a glance.

Answered at: Checked at:

Short answer

The Bank Norwegian credit card can pay off if you fly with Norwegian and clear the bill each month, as it has no annual fee and earns CashPoints. Ordinary purchases earn 0.5% and Norwegian tickets 3–5%, and 1 CashPoint is worth 1 krone. If you carry a balance, interest costs far more than the bonus.

Why

  1. Bank Norwegian states that the card has no annual fee and gives up to 45 interest-free days on purchases.
  2. Card purchases earn 0.5% in CashPoints, while Norwegian LowFare, LowFare+ and Flex tickets earn 3%, 4% and 5%.
  3. The bank's own price example shows an effective interest rate of 24.4% on NOK 15,000 over one year, costing NOK 1,849.

Details

Travel and cancellation insurance is included when you pay at least 75% of the trip with the card. Abroad the bank adds a 1.75% currency surcharge, and you must be over 18 to apply. The credit limit can be up to NOK 150,000 and is set after a check of your income and debt.

Tip

To use the points, link the card to your Norwegian Reward profile: CashPoints are moved there every Wednesday and can pay for flights, extra baggage, seat reservations and ticket changes.

What may differ

When you buy flights from Norwegian, you earn either CashPoints or Spenn, so check which applies to your profile. CashPoints are valid for the rest of the year they are earned, plus two years.
