Can I add a credit card to Vipps?
Which cards work, how to add one and what to check if it fails.
Short answer
Yes, you can add a Norwegian credit card to Vipps and tap with it in shops if your bank supports Vipps tapping with Visa or Mastercard. Add it under the profile icon, Kontoer og kort and Legg til kort. Klarna's Credit Card and Flex card can also be added.
Why
- Vipps accepts only Norwegian cards and only cards in your own name, and the card must be open for online shopping.
- When you pay with a card in Vipps, you keep the card's benefits and bonus points.
- A Klarna card must be active in the Klarna app before you can add it to Vipps.
Details
Enter the card number, expiry date and the three-digit CVC from the back of the card, then confirm. A new card must be activated first, by using it once in a payment terminal or in your online bank. You can add several cards and accounts and switch between them, for example when you shop online.
Tip
If the card is rejected, check with your bank that it is activated and open for online shopping.
What may differ
Cards issued abroad cannot be added, since Vipps accepts only Norwegian cards.
