How do I install Vipps and set it up on a new phone?
Requirements, first setup, a new phone and a new number.
Short answer
To get Vipps, download the app from the App Store or Google Play and follow the steps, and on a new phone you simply log in again. Users over 15 need BankID, a Norwegian mobile number and a Norwegian bank card and account. Vipps sends an SMS each time the app is installed on a new device.
Why
- Vipps supports iOS 16 and Android 9 or newer, according to its help pages.
- Loyalty cards are tied to your Vipps account, and Vipps says that when you log in on a new phone you have access to everything again.
- If you get the new-device SMS but did not install Vipps yourself, Vipps says you should act at once.
Details
You can remove an old phone from your profile: log in, tap the device and choose Glem enhet. If you also get a new phone number, tap the profile icon, choose Vis mer, tap the old number and follow the steps; people you have paid before will see the new number. A D-number works only if your bank offers BankID with a D-number.
Tip
Before you sell or hand in the old phone, remove it from your Vipps profile with Glem enhet.
What may differ
Children under 15 cannot set up a profile on their own: a parent creates it from their own Vipps app.
