Can I pay bills and invoices with Vipps?
eFaktura in Vipps, scanning bills and due dates.
Short answer
Yes, you can pay bills with Vipps, either by receiving eFaktura in the app or by scanning a bill with the phone camera. To get eFaktura in Vipps, switch on 'Se eFaktura også i Vipps' under Kontoer og kort. A bill paid in Vipps can no longer be paid in the online bank, so you cannot pay twice.
Why
- When you switch on eFaktura in Vipps, you agree to receive your e-invoices there, and they still arrive in your online bank as well.
- When you scan a bill, you confirm the account you are paying to, the KID number and finally the amount, and paid bills show under Betalinger and in the online bank.
- Section 29 of the Vipps terms says your bank account is charged on the payment date set in the online bank's due-date register, whether you handle the bill in Vipps or in the online bank.
Details
New eFaktura bills are found under Hjem and Regninger, and to scan a bill you choose Betalinger at the bottom of the screen. The terms say a payment cannot be withdrawn or changed in Vipps once you have confirmed it and it has started. If you delete an eFaktura in the online bank, it also disappears from Vipps.
Tip
To stop seeing bills in Vipps, switch off 'Se eFaktura også i Vipps', not 'Motta eFaktura fra bedrifter': turning off the second stops eFaktura in your bank too.
