How do I send a gift with Vipps?
Steps, price, scheduling and cancelling a gift.
Short answer
To send a gift with Vipps, choose Send, pick the person and amount, tap 'Send som gave' and choose the wrapping paper. A gift costs NOK 8 and is free for users under 15, while gifts over NOK 5,000 carry the usual 1% fee instead. You can send it at once or schedule it up to three months ahead.
Why
- The recipient gets a push notification from Vipps on the date you chose, and the gift opens in the app with an animation and confetti.
- The gift amount and the fee are taken from your account at the time you chose for the gift to be sent, not when you create it.
- You can cancel a scheduled gift at any time, but to change it you have to cancel it and create a new one.
Details
You can write a short message before tapping Neste and choosing Send som gave, and then follow the steps on screen. If you choose a future date and pay from an account, the money reaches the recipient within seconds on that day. If something goes wrong with the transfer, Vipps sends you a push notification so you can try again.
Tip
If you would rather not pay the NOK 8 fee, send the money as an ordinary Vipps payment: Vipps says you can always choose that instead.
