How does a Vipps group settlement (oppgjør) work?
Groups, expenses, paying your share and settling up.
Short answer
A Vipps group settlement works through a group: you create it under Sosialt, add the expenses, and the app tracks who owes money to whom. Each member pays what they owe with the payment function in the group chat. Expenses can be split by percentage or by amount in kroner.
Why
- You create a group under Sosialt by tapping the plus sign in the top right corner and adding the people you want.
- When you add an expense, you enter the amount and a description and choose who took part, splitting it by percentage or by amount in kroner.
- If you leave a group, you lose access to it and its history, but the other members can still see what you owe or are owed.
Details
After creating the group, tap the members at the top of the screen to name it, choose a picture or add more people. To add an expense, choose Legg til utlegg, then Neste, and check that everything is correct. To pay your share, use the payment function in the group chat: the payment then shows with the status Sendt. To leave, open the group details, choose Forlat gruppen and confirm.
Tip
If you settle up outside Vipps, for example in cash, the person who was owed money opens the expense and chooses 'vi har gjort opp utenfor'.
