Is Vipps down right now, and why is Vipps not working?
Live status, typical reasons Vipps fails and what to do.
Short answer
To see if Vipps is down, check the official Vipps MobilePay status page, which shows live and past disruptions for Norway, Denmark and Finland. If everything there is operational, check your own setup: an expired or blocked card, too little money or a reached limit can stop a payment, and the app needs iOS 16 or Android 9 or newer.
Why
- The status page at status.vippsmobilepay.com lists services such as App Login and Payment Processing for each country.
- Vipps names an expired or blocked card, a blocked account, too little money and a reached amount limit as reasons a payment can fail.
- Vipps supports iOS 16 and Android 9 or newer, and on a phone too old to update, the app cannot be used.
Details
You can subscribe to updates from the status page by email or through an RSS feed. If your profile has been blocked for security or other reasons, Vipps asks you to contact customer service. To use Vipps at all, you need BankID, a Norwegian mobile number, a Norwegian Visa or Mastercard and an account in a Norwegian bank.
Tip
Update your phone's operating system and the Vipps app before you contact support, since an outdated system can stop the app from working.
What may differ
Planned maintenance is announced on the status page in advance, and during such work some services, such as invoice payments, may be unavailable.
