What is the maximum amount I can send or receive with Vipps?
Yearly limits, limits for children and transfers abroad.
Short answer
Vipps users over 15 can send up to NOK 850,000 and receive up to NOK 700,000 in any 365-day period. Payments to businesses are capped at NOK 650,000 per 365 days. You cannot change these limits in Vipps, but your bank account may have its own limit, which you change in your online bank.
Why
- Users under 15 can send up to NOK 25,000 and receive up to NOK 65,000 in 365 days.
- Transfers to and from other countries have separate limits of NOK 50,000 in 7 days and NOK 250,000 in 365 days.
- Vipps says some limits are its own and others follow from law and regulation, to increase security and reduce crime and misuse.
Details
Vipps does not show how close you are to a limit, but you can go through your payments in the app or search for Vipps transfers in your online bank. If a payment fails, the error message should tell you why: the card may be expired or blocked, the account may lack funds, or a limit may have been reached.
Tip
If a large payment fails, check the limit on your bank account first: Vipps says that limit must be changed in your online bank.
