How long does a Vipps payment take to reach the account?
Account or card, receiving cards and where the money goes.
Short answer
A Vipps payment sent from a bank account reaches the recipient straight away, while money sent from a card can take up to three working days. If the recipient has chosen a receiving card, card payments also arrive at once. As long as you see the payment in the app, it is on its way.
Why
- Vipps' help pages say that if you send from an account, the recipient receives the money immediately.
- Section 19.2 of the Vipps terms sets the maximum time for a card-to-account payment at the transaction day plus three banking days, while card-to-card times depend on the card issuers.
- A receiving card (mottakerkort) makes it possible to receive money within seconds, and you also need one to receive money from Sweden, Denmark or Finland.
Details
Money sent from an account goes to the recipient's chosen receiving account, and money sent from a card goes to the receiving card if one has been chosen. You set or change both under the profile icon and Kontoer og kort. You cannot receive money on a credit card.
Tip
If money has not arrived, tap the payment in the app to see which account or card it was sent to.
