Which online shops do people in Norway use instead of Amazon?
Electronics, clothes, second-hand and foreign marketplaces.
Short answer
Without a Norwegian Amazon store, people in Norway shop online at specialist sites such as Komplett and Elkjøp for electronics, Zalando for clothes and FINN for second-hand goods. A Forbrukerrådet survey also found many shoppers using foreign platforms such as Temu, AliExpress and Amazon itself. Zalando's Norwegian site includes taxes and duties in the price.
Why
- Komplett calls itself 'Hele Norges nettbutikk' and sells electronics, computer equipment, PCs and TVs, with free returns.
- Elkjøp describes itself as the largest electronics chain in the Nordic region and lets you order online for home delivery or click and collect in a store.
- Zalando's Norwegian site sells clothes, shoes and accessories with 30 days of free returns and free delivery to a pickup point on orders over 599 kr.
Details
FINN.no is the Norwegian marketplace for buying and selling things large and small, and it also covers jobs, property and cars. In Forbrukerrådet's October 2024 survey, 6 in 10 respondents had shopped in the past two to three years at one or more foreign sites such as Temu, Shein, AliExpress, eBay or Amazon.
Tip
Compare the total price including delivery and VAT: shops selling in kroner with VAT included show the full price at checkout, while other foreign orders may bring VAT and a carrier fee on arrival.
