Dentists in Trondheim: 9 clinics in the centre, east, west and south

This page lists dentists and dental clinics in Trondheim by where in the city they are: in the centre and just across the river, in the east, and at Byåsen and Tiller. It helps you find a clinic near your home, workplace or campus: each card has an address and a short description, and the phone number and a link to the clinic's website are in the card.

Cards checked on 6 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

How to choose: the centre, the east, or the west and south

  • Pick the area first: near your home, your workplace or your campus.
  • The centre here means Midtbyen and the addresses just across the river, at Bakklandet and Solsiden.
  • Byåsen is two to three kilometres from Midtbyen in a straight line, Tiller seven to eight.
  • The groups tell you where a clinic is, not what kind of treatment it offers.

The groups follow the map and say nothing about the treatment. The first one gathers addresses in Midtbyen and just across the river Nidelva, at Bakklandet and Solsiden: they suit you if you work or study in the centre of Trondheim and want to fit the appointment into your day. The other two groups are for those who want a dentist near home: in the east of the city, from Strindheim to Ranheim, or at Byåsen and Tiller.

Distances are longer than they look on the map. From Midtbyen it is two to three kilometres in a straight line up to Byåsen and seven to eight kilometres south to Tiller, and Ranheim lies at the far eastern end of the city. So read the address on the card and not just the name. Several dental clinics are upstairs, one or more floors above street level, some of them in a shopping centre: if you need a lift, the floor is often given in the address.

This page is a selection, not a complete list. The catalogue category Dental Clinics holds more than a hundred cards from all over the city, and more practical guides are gathered under Services & practical.

Booking and opening hours

  • Most clinics take bookings online: the link to the website is in the card.
  • A contact form is a request: the appointment counts only once the clinic has confirmed it.
  • Typical opening hours are weekdays from 07:00 or 08:00 to 15:00 or 16:00.
  • Some clinics have long days until 19:00 or 20:00.

You usually book on the clinic's website, where most clinics have a dedicated booking button. At some clinics online booking covers only certain practitioners, and you book the rest by phone. Others have a contact form instead of a calendar: in that case the appointment is not booked until the clinic has replied.

Opening hours are much the same from clinic to clinic. According to the clinics' own websites and the catalogue cards in October 2026, dental clinics open at 07:00 or 08:00 on weekdays and close between 15:00 and 16:00, and Friday is often shorter. Some stay open until 19:00 or 20:00 on one or more days a week, while Saturday and Sunday are closed. The hours on the card and on the clinic's website can differ, so check the website before you book.

Each clinic has its own rules for cancellation. The deadline can be 24 hours before the appointment, and at some clinics you have to phone to change or cancel: the rules are on the clinic's website.

Prices, support and urgent help

  • Adults as a rule pay for dental treatment themselves.
  • Dentists set their own prices: ask for an estimate before any major treatment.
  • Children and young people up to and including 18 are treated free of charge in the public dental service.
  • If life is in danger, call 113. The out-of-hours medical service (legevakt) is on 116 117.

Dentists in Norway set their prices freely, and adults as a rule pay the bill themselves. The cards on this page do not give prices: you get the price from the clinic.

Some people get help with the bill. Children and young people up to and including 18 are treated free of charge in the public dental service, except for orthodontics, and from 19 to 28 you pay 25 per cent of the bill there, according to Helsenorge as of July 2026. For certain conditions Helfo, the Norwegian health economics administration, covers part of the cost: the dentist assesses whether you are entitled to support, and clinics with direct settlement deduct the amount when you pay.

This page does not promise urgent help. Some clinics say on their own websites that they keep same-day emergency appointments, but you only find out whether one is free by phoning the clinic. The page is for information only and does not replace an assessment by a dentist or doctor. If life is in danger, call 113.

Questions and answers

Where can I find a dentist in Trondheim city centre?

In Midtbyen and just across the river, at Bakklandet and Solsiden: these addresses are in the first group on this page. The street address is on the card.

How do I book a dentist appointment?

On the clinic's website or by phone: most clinics offer online booking, and the phone number is in the card. If you send a contact form, the appointment is booked only once the clinic has confirmed it.

Are dentists open in the evening or at weekends?

Some clinics have long days until 19:00 or 20:00 on certain weekdays. At weekends the clinics on this page are closed, according to the catalogue cards in October 2026.

How much does a dentist appointment cost?

It varies, because dentists in Norway set their own prices. Adults as a rule pay the whole bill, and the clinic will tell you the price.

Is the dentist free for children and young people?

Yes, up to and including the age of 18 in the public dental service, except for orthodontics. From 19 to 28 you pay 25 per cent of the bill there, according to Helsenorge as of July 2026.

Who do I call with acute toothache?

Call a dental clinic during opening hours: some clinics say they keep same-day emergency appointments, but this page does not promise a free slot. If life is in danger, call 113; the out-of-hours medical service is on 116 117.

How this page is made

The clinics on this page are chosen by the NorgeGuide editorial team. Payment affects neither the selection nor the order. The order within the groups is free and says nothing about quality: the editorial team does not assess the treatment at the clinics.
