Dentists in Stavanger: 10 clinics in the centre, to the west and to the south

A dentist in Stavanger is not only found in the centre: this page includes clinics in the city core, at Stokka, Bjergsted and Madla, and to the south in Hillevåg, at Hinna and at Forus. Use it to choose by where you live or work, and by what time of day you can go: the address and a short description are on every card, and the phone number is inside the card.

Cards checked on 6 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Which group suits you

This page is useful if you want an appointment during working hours in the centre, need a clinic with a long day or parking at the door, or wonder where the emergency dental service is at the weekend.

Three parts of the city: the centre, the west and the south

  • City centre: three addresses within just over 500 metres of each other.
  • Stokka and Bjergsted are about one kilometre from the city core, Madla three to four.
  • To the south the distances grow: Hillevåg 2.5 kilometres, Hinna just over 5 and Forus almost 9.
  • Addresses at Madla have Hafrsfjord as their postal town, but are in the same municipality.

The groups follow the map and say nothing about the treatment. In the centre of Stavanger three addresses lie close together: St. Olavs gate, Klubbgata and Kirkegata, with just over 500 metres between the outermost ones. The clinic in Klubbgata is on the fourth floor of the shopping centre there, and the nearest entrance is on the east side, by St. Petri church. The address in Kirkegata is an orthodontic practice: you go there for braces, not for an ordinary check-up.

West and north of the city core, the first two addresses are close by: Stokkaveien is under one kilometre from the centre in a straight line, Tastagata at Bjergsted just over one. To Madla it is three to four kilometres. The cards there have Hafrsfjord as the postal town, but Madla is a district of the city.

To the south the clinics lie in a row in the direction of Sandnes: Hillevåg about 2.5 kilometres from the centre, Hinna just over 5 and Forus almost 9, measured in a straight line between the map points on the cards. In Hillevåg the dentists are in a health and service centre, and at Hinna on the second floor of a building with a grocery shop.

This page shows a selection. The category Dental clinics in the directory has close to a hundred cards from all over the city, and more health guides are under Health and medicine.

Long day and short day: the hours the clinics list

  • An ordinary day: from 08.00 until between 15.00 and 16.00.
  • A long day is found at Madla: until 19.00 or 18.00 on certain weekdays.
  • A short day: the clinic at Forus closes at 13.00 on Fridays.
  • On Saturday and Sunday the cards show the clinics as closed.

The dental clinics here keep office hours. According to the clinics' own websites (read on 6 October 2026) they open at 08.00, and most of them close between 15.00 and 16.00. If you want an appointment after work, you therefore have to look for the clinics with a long day.

The long days are at Madla. One clinic there lists opening hours until 19.00 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the other until 18.00 on Wednesdays. In the centre it is the other way round: the clinic in St. Olavs gate says it closes at 12.00 on Wednesdays and at 16.00 on the other weekdays, and the clinic in Klubbgata closes at 15.30.

Telephone hours are not the same as opening hours. The dentists in Hillevåg list telephone hours from 08.00 to 15.15 and do not accept text messages on the dentists' direct numbers. One of the clinics at Madla lists a separate number for calls and text messages outside opening hours.

At several places you can book the appointment online: the clinic in Klubbgata, the chain clinic at Madla and the clinic at Forus have a booking link, and the clinic in St. Olavs gate has a patient page with login. At Hinna and at the other clinic at Madla the request goes through a contact form, and then the appointment is agreed only when the clinic has replied.

Public or private, the bill and the emergency dental service

  • The clinic in Tastagata is public: it is run by the county's dental service.
  • Children and young people are treated free of charge there up to and including the year they turn 18.
  • Emergency dental service at weekends and on public holidays: Tastagata 30/32, entrance A, 11.00 to 15.00.
  • If life is in danger: call 113.

One of the clinics differs from the others: the one in Tastagata at Bjergsted is run by Tannhelse Rogaland, the county's public dental service. In the public service children and teenagers are treated free of charge from birth up to and including the year they turn 18, with the exception of braces, and from the year you turn 19 up to and including the year you turn 28 you pay 25 per cent yourself. How the clinic receives other adults is not stated on its website: call and ask.

At the private clinics adults as a main rule pay the whole bill themselves, and the dentists are free to set their prices. The cards do not give prices. If the National Insurance Scheme covers part of the treatment, a clinic with direct settlement can have the benefit paid to itself, so that you do not have to pay that part up front: according to the cards, the dentists in Hillevåg and one of the clinics at Madla have such an agreement with Helfo.

The emergency dental service for Stavanger and southern Rogaland is at the same place as the public clinic: Tastagata 30/32, entrance A. It is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11.00 to 15.00, phone 51 65 92 70 (Tannhelse Rogaland's website, read on 6 October 2026). On weekdays you call a dental clinic during opening hours. Some of the clinics on this page write that they take urgent cases, but neither they nor this page promise a free appointment.

This page is a practical guide and does not replace an examination by a dentist or a doctor. The editors do not assess the treatment at the clinics. If life is in danger, call 113; the out-of-hours medical service answers on 116 117.
