Hairdressers in Bergen: 12 salons and barbers from Åsane to Sletten

If you need a hairdresser in Bergen, the choice is usually between a salon in one of the city-centre shopping centres, a smaller salon in the streets behind Bryggen or in Sandviken, a barber on one of the central streets and a hairdresser in the district where you live. This page sorts salons and barbers into three groups along exactly those lines: each card has an address, a phone number and a short description of what the place offers.

Cards checked on 6 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Shopping centre, central street or district: where the salons are

  • Two of the city-centre salons are in shopping centres: Xhibition on Småstrandgaten and the shopping centre on Strømgaten.
  • The other two are on Nye Sandviksveien, in the streets behind Bryggen, and on Sandviksveien in Sandviken.
  • The barbers each have their own street: Vaskerelven, the pedestrian street Strandgaten, Olav Kyrres gate and Kong Oscars gate.
  • Outside the centre: Åsane Senter in the north, and Michael Krohns gate, Kronstad and Sletten Senter in the south.

The centre of Bergen is compact: you can walk between the addresses. From the Xhibition shopping centre to the barber in the Galleriet shopping centre, on Olav Kyrres gate, it is under a hundred metres, and to the shopping centre on Strømgaten about half a kilometre in a straight line. Measured from Småstrandgaten, the salon on Nye Sandviksveien is about 750 metres further north and the salon on Sandviksveien about two kilometres.

The district group is for those who do not want to go into town for a haircut. Åsane Senter is about eight kilometres north of the centre in a straight line, and the salon's website puts it at a quarter of an hour by car. South of the centre there are three places in Årstad and Landås: a barbershop on Michael Krohns gate, which according to its card also has a separate section for women, a salon in Kronstadparken and one in Sletten Senter, a little over four kilometres from the centre in a straight line.

The barbers have a group of their own because the service is different: men's cuts, beard trims and razor shaves. Several salons in the other two groups also cut men's hair, according to their cards.

This page is a selection. In the directory, the category Hair Salons & Haircare has more than 150 cards, and about seven in ten have a city-centre address. The barbers have their own category, Barbershops, and more guides on the same subject are collected under Beauty and wellness.

Drop-in, online booking or phone: how to get an appointment

  • Drop-in is available in two places: in the shopping centre on Strømgaten when there is a free chair, and in Åsane Senter.
  • Three of the barbers use the same booking system, and the link is on the barber's own website.
  • Three of the cards have no website: call those places.
  • Students get a discount at one city-centre salon on weekdays before 13:00.

Two of the places take customers without an appointment. The chain salon on Strømgaten says on its website (read on 6 October 2026) that it takes drop-in customers when capacity allows, and recommends booking if you want a particular time. The salon in Åsane Senter is built around drop-in: you buy the haircut in an app, online or at a self-service terminal in the salon. Colour is not among its services.

With the barbers, most of it happens online. The barbers on Vaskerelven, Strandgaten and Olav Kyrres gate all link to the same booking system from their own websites. Two of them have a second shop in the centre, by Bryggen and on Christian Michelsens gate, so check the address in the booking. The barber on Kong Oscars gate has no website on its card, and the same goes for the salon on Sandviksveien and the place on Michael Krohns gate: those you call.

The hair salons use different solutions: the salon on Nye Sandviksveien links from its card straight to its booking page, and the salons in Kronstad and Sletten Senter take bookings from their own websites. The chain salon on Strømgaten states that an appointment must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. The other websites we read mention no deadline.

The cards do not show prices. The chain that runs the salon on Småstrandgaten lists on its website (read on 6 October 2026) a student discount on weekdays between 9:00 and 13:00 on showing a student card, and a lower price with an apprentice.

Opening hours: longest in shopping centres, Thursday is the late day at the barbers

  • City-centre shopping centres: closing at 20:00 or 21:00 on weekdays and 18:00 on Saturdays.
  • Three of the barbers are open until 19:00 on Thursdays.
  • On Saturdays the places close between 15:00 and 18:00, and the salon in Kronstad is closed.
  • On Sundays none of the cards show opening hours.

The times here come from the cards in the directory (October 2026). The places in shopping centres are open longest. The salon on Småstrandgaten is listed as open until 20:00 on weekdays and the salon on Strømgaten until 21:00, both until 18:00 on Saturdays, and the barber in Galleriet has the same hours as the salon on Strømgaten. The salon in Åsane Senter is listed as open from 10:00 to 21:00 on weekdays.

The barbers on the central streets keep shorter days, with one exception: Thursday. Three of them stay open until 19:00 that day, while they otherwise close at 17:00 or 18:00. The barber on Vaskerelven closes as early as 15:00 on Mondays and Saturdays.

South of the centre the places close at 17:00 or 18:00 on weekdays, according to the cards. The salon in Sletten Senter states on its own website that it is open until 19:00 from Tuesday to Thursday (read on 5 October 2026), an hour longer than the card shows. The salon in Kronstad is listed as closed on Saturdays.

The salons on Nye Sandviksveien and Sandviksveien have no opening hours on their cards: there the booking page or the phone gives the answer. When the card and the salon's website disagree, trust the website.
