Where the salons are: centre, district and barber

  • The city-centre group has two salons on Kirkegata, one in the Herbarium centre on Lars Hertervigs gate and one on St. Svithuns gate.
  • The district group has one salon each in Madla, Tasta, Hinna and Forus.
  • The barbers are grouped by service, not by area: two in the centre, one in Storhaug and one west of the centre.
  • Five of the places are chain salons: only one branch of each chain is shown here.

The city-centre group suits you when you are in town anyway. Two of the salons are on the same street, Kirkegata, one of them inside the Arkaden Torgterrassen shopping centre. The third is in the Herbarium centre on Lars Hertervigs gate, a few minutes' walk away, and the fourth is on St. Svithuns gate, just south of the central streets.

The district group is for those who want a hairdresser where they live or shop. The salon in Madla is on the 2nd floor of the shopping centre at Madlakrossen, and its card mentions parking both indoors and outdoors. In Tasta the address is Randabergveien, in Hinna Boganesveien, and the salon in Forus is on Bjødnabeen, in the south of the city.

The barbers have a group of their own because what they offer differs from an ordinary hair salon: men's cuts with scissors and clippers, fades, beard trims and shaves. Two of them are in the centre, on Øvre Holmegate and Haakon VIIs gate, one on Pedersgata in Storhaug and one on Misjonsveien, west of the centre. A straight-razor shave is also available outside the barber group: the district salon in Tasta mentions it in its card.

This page is a selection. In the directory, the category Hair Salons & Haircare has more than a hundred cards, and barbers have a category of their own, Barbershops. More about the city is on the Stavanger page, and guides on other topics are under Rating of popular places.

Booking: online, by phone or drop-in

  • Several of the salons take online bookings, among them the chain salons in the centre and three of the district salons.
  • One district salon mentions drop-in in its card: it offers haircuts, not colour.
  • One of the barbers has no website in its card: there the phone is the way to go.
  • The cards do not show prices.

Several of the salons take online bookings, according to their own websites (read on 5 October 2026): the two chain salons in the centre, the salons in Madla, Tasta and Hinna, and one of the barbers in the centre. Booking goes through a booking system the salon links to, and the district salon in Tasta says in its card that you can book around the clock. Every card has a phone number, so you can also call.

If you would rather not book, one salon on this page mentions drop-in in its card: the salon in the shopping centre in Madla, which also takes bookings in an app. It offers haircuts, and colour is not on its list. The other cards say nothing about drop-in.

Five of the places are chain salons, and the chains have several branches in the city or in neighbouring municipalities. An appointment is for one specific branch, so look at the address before you confirm the booking.

For prices you need to go to the salon: the cards do not show them. The district salon in Tasta has a price page of its own listing cuts for adults and children, colour, highlights and balayage. One of the barbers, on Pedersgata, has no website in its card, and there you get an answer by phone.

Opening hours: evenings, Saturdays and Mondays at the barber

  • Evenings: the three salons in shopping centres are listed as open until 20:00 on weekdays.
  • Saturday: closing times in the cards range from 14:00 to 19:00.
  • Monday: two of the barbers are listed as closed.
  • Sunday: none of the cards shows opening hours.

The times here come from the cards in the directory (October 2026). The salons in shopping centres stay open longest: the two in the centre are listed until 20:00 on weekdays and 18:00 on Saturdays, and the salons state the same on their own websites (read on 5 October 2026). The salon in Madla is also listed until 20:00 on weekdays. The other district salons are open until 19:00 or 20:00 at least one weekday a week.

Three of the four barbers are open until 19:00 or later on most weekdays. The fourth closes at 17:00 but opens as early as 7:00 on Fridays. Two of the barbers are listed as closed on Mondays, so Monday is the day with the fewest barbers to choose from.

Saturday is where the differences are greatest. Closing times in the cards vary from 14:00 to 19:00, and one salon in the centre is listed without Saturday hours. The district salon in Tasta states on its own website that it opens on Saturdays only in even-numbered weeks. On Sundays none of the places is listed with opening hours.

The cards and the salons' own websites do not always agree: for two of the salons we found different times on the website than in the card. In that case the website is the one to trust, so look there on the day you are going.
