How to choose: kind of massage first, then area

  • Thai massage is given in salons of its own: two are in Midtbyen and one is in a shopping centre at Strindheim.
  • The massage therapists in Midtbyen offer classical massage, aromatherapy and foot reflexology.
  • At a spa, a sauna, pool or wet area comes in addition to the treatment.
  • This page is a selection: the directory category has nearly fifty cards.

Start with the kind of massage you want. According to the cards, traditional Thai massage combines acupressure and stretching, and the salons also offer treatments such as back and neck massage and aromatherapy massage. The massage therapists in Midtbyen list classical massage, aromatherapy and foot reflexology, and one of them gives Thai massage too. At a spa you book a treatment, for example a hot stone massage or a facial: the hotel spa has saunas, an ice bath and a heated pool, and the day spa has a wet area with salt peeling and clay treatments.

Then comes the area. Most of the places are in Midtbyen, the centre of Trondheim: on Prinsens gate, Olav Tryggvasons gate, Kongens gate and Dronningens gate, with about ten minutes on foot between the two that lie furthest apart. The day spa is on the second floor of the shopping centre at Solsiden, just east of Midtbyen. One of the Thai salons is on the second floor of Sirkus Shopping at Strindheim, about three kilometres east of Midtbyen, and there you can have your massage on the same trip as your shopping.

One of the Thai salons in the centre states that it is on the second floor, with the entrance at the corner and stairs up, and one of the massage therapists is on the second floor too. The cards say nothing about a lift, so call and ask if you need step-free access.

This page is a selection, not a complete list. The directory category Spa & Massage Centers has nearly fifty cards, and there you can search by name or address. Guides on other topics are collected under Rating of popular places.

Before you book: appointment, duration and what is included

  • Both spas and two of the Thai salons take bookings online.
  • You reach the other places by phone: the number is in the card.
  • At the hotel spa, entry to the spa area is included when you book a treatment.
  • The cards do not give prices: the price list is on the place's website.

Both spas and two of the Thai salons take bookings online, according to their own websites (read on 5 October 2026): you choose the treatment, the duration and the time yourself, and the link to the website is in the card. The third Thai salon gives a phone number and a contact form on its website, and the card has the phone number. You reach the massage therapists by phone: the number is in the card.

If you book a treatment at the hotel spa, entry to the spa area is included, according to the spa's website. If you only want to use the pool and saunas, the spa has separate time slots and prices for guests who come from outside. The opening hours of the reception, pool and saunas do not tell you when there is a free massage appointment: you see that only when you book.

The day spa in the shopping centre has facials, foot care, manicures and massage in one place. Both the day spa and the Thai salon at Strindheim sell gift cards, according to the cards. The Thai salon also offers couples massage, that is, massage for two at the same time.

When you book, it pays to ask about three things: the duration, the cancellation deadline and what you need to bring, for example swimwear if you are going to use the pool or sauna.

Opening hours: evenings, Saturdays and Sundays

  • Until 21:00 on weekdays: the hotel spa, the day spa and the Thai salon in the shopping centre.
  • In Midtbyen the Thai salons close at 18:00 or 20:00 on weekdays.
  • Sundays: the hotel spa lists opening hours, most of the others do not.

The times here are taken from the places' own websites (read on 5 October 2026), and from the card where the website does not give them. The hotel spa states that the reception, pool and saunas are open from 7:00 to 21:00 Monday to Friday and from 8:00 to 21:00 on Saturday and Sunday. The Thai salon at Sirkus Shopping lists 9:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and until 20:00 on Saturday, and the day spa's card shows 9:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and until 18:00 on Saturday.

In Midtbyen the days are shorter. One Thai salon lists 10:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 13:00 on Saturday, the other 11:00 to 20:00 from Monday to Saturday. The card of one of the massage therapists shows 10:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday, and no opening hours at the weekend.

The card and the place's own website do not always say the same: for one of the Thai salons in the centre the card shows longer Saturday hours than the salon's website. The time on the place's website is the one that counts, so look there on the day you go.
