Car repair in Ålesund: 10 workshops around Moa, at Blindheim and near the centre
Most car workshops in Ålesund are not in the centre but around Moa, ten kilometres further east. Nine of the ten in this selection are based there: at Blindheim and further south, in Breivika and in Spjelkavik, all within just over four kilometres of the shopping centre. Only one is on the town side, in Sjømannsvegen two kilometres east of the town hall. Seven of the ten do service and repairs, three work only with damage, dents and paint. The cards show the address, a short description and how to reach the workshop: phone or website.

Nine workshops around Moa, one on the town side: where they are
- Storevågen 70 and 80 are about 140 metres apart, 2.5 kilometres south of the shopping centre at Moa.
- Vegsundbakken 22 is 1.1 kilometres south of Storevågen, and Puskholevegen 47 about two kilometres to the east.
- Kalvøyvegen 24 and Langøyvegen 17 in Breivika are 90 metres apart, 1.2 kilometres north-west of Moa.
- Brusdalsvegen 205 in Spjelkavik is 1.6 kilometres east of Moa.
The figures are straight lines from point to point on the map, and Moa is counted from the shopping centre at Moavegen 1. From the town hall in Keiser Wilhelms gate it is ten kilometres there. For anyone living on Aspøya or Hessa, the workshop in Sjømannsvegen is therefore the only one here on their side of town.
The way to Storevågen is described on the website of the test centre at number 70 (read on 7 October 2026): from the E39 you turn off at Blindheimsbreivika towards Sykkylven, Stranda and Blindheim, continue on national road 60 and take the second exit at the roundabout. Then it is the first road on the left and left again into Storevågen, and after about 500 metres the centre is on your left.

Seven for service, three for damage: what the workshops say themselves
- Four of the seven service workshops belong to the same workshop chain and share online booking.
- The test centre at Storevågen 70 has a change-of-ownership test and an end-of-warranty test, but does not take motorhomes.
- Motorhomes are on the list in Kalvøyvegen, Vegsundbakken and Brusdalsvegen.
- Electric cars are mentioned at Storevågen 80, Vegsundbakken, Kalvøyvegen and Puskholevegen.
The lists of services come from the websites of the workshops and the chains, read on 7 October 2026. Storevågen 80 lists service on all makes and on electric cars, oil change, air-conditioning service and fault finding. In Vegsundbakken the list also has damage and paint, motorhomes and electric and hybrid cars, and the workshop in Puskholevegen states service and repairs on all common makes.
The workshop in Brusdalsvegen is a brand workshop: it writes that it is an authorised service workshop for Honda and Citroën, and that it also takes other common makes, motorhomes and vans. The workshop in Kalvøyvegen does service and repairs on cars and motorhomes and mentions electric and hybrid cars, wheel alignment and air-conditioning service. The workshop in Sjømannsvegen writes that the work follows the car maker's instructions.
The periodic roadworthiness test (EU-kontroll) is listed at six of the seven; for the workshop in Sjømannsvegen only the card mentions it. The test centre itself gives 3.5 tonnes as the upper limit for the test there.
The three in the last group do not do service. The damage centre in Langøyvegen is a separate company under a brand dealer and has car damage as its only trade. The paint workshop in Tverrvegen takes body damage, paint damage and smart repair, meaning small damage mended without taking the part off the car, and takes both insurance cases and private customers. The workshop in Breivika Industriveg has no website: the card mentions damage estimates, rust welding, dents and painting.
From 07:30 south of Moa, Saturday only by appointment: hours, booking and keys
- The earliest to open are the workshops in Puskholevegen and Vegsundbakken: 07:30.
- 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday applies at Storevågen 70, Kalvøyvegen, Brusdalsvegen and Sjømannsvegen.
- The paint workshop in Tverrvegen stays open longest: 08:30 to 17:00, and Saturday by appointment.
We have the opening hours from the workshops' or the chain's own pages, read on 7 October 2026. In Puskholevegen it is open until 16:30 every weekday, while the workshop in Vegsundbakken closes earlier on Fridays. Storevågen 80 has not published opening hours. We could not open the website of the damage centre in Langøyvegen that day; on 6 October 2026 it said Monday to Friday 07:30 to 16:30 and closed on Saturday there.
At most of them you get an appointment online. The four chain workshops use the chain's booking page, and the workshop in Vegsundbakken also has its own form where you fill in the car's registration number, the day you want and the job in question. Storevågen 80 has a link to online booking and otherwise takes requests by phone. An estimate after damage is booked online both in Langøyvegen and in Tverrvegen, while the workshop in Breivika Industriveg is reached by phone.
If the car is to stay at Blindheim while you are at work in the centre, you need somewhere to leave the key. The test centre at Storevågen 70 has a key drop facing the driveway and a key machine for collection outside opening hours, and the workshop in Kalvøyvegen has key drop-off as a separate item on its website. At the others you have to agree with the workshop how the car is delivered and collected.
