Which group suits you

This page is useful if you want your car serviced on the side of the city where you live or work, if the body has been damaged, or if the engine needs more than an ordinary workshop takes on.

Three clusters from west to east: where the workshops are

  • Lund is the closest: about two kilometres north-east of Torvet, the square in the Kvadraturen centre, as the crow flies.
  • Kartheia is a good two kilometres west of the centre, Bråvannsløkka in Vågsbygd about five.
  • Sørlandsparken is eight to nine kilometres to the east.
  • Two of the cards in Lund share a street address but are separate firms.

Kristiansand stretches a long way from west to east, and the nine workshops lie in three clusters. In the west there is one workshop in Kartheia and two in Vågsbygd, in Bråvannsløkka and Bråvannskleiva, less than a hundred metres apart. In Lund three workshops lie within 300 metres, in Kongsgård alle and Nye Teglverks vei. In Sørlandsparken, the retail area in the east of the city, three workshops are spread along Barstølveien and Avenyen, with a little over a kilometre between the outermost ones.

Nye Teglverks vei 42 appears in two cards. These are two firms, each with its own phone number and website: one does servicing and repairs, the other body repair and paint. If the car needs both, you make an arrangement with each of them.

The catalogue holds more than these nine. The category Auto Repair & Maintenance Services has 49 cards in October 2026, among them car care, rust protection and wrapping, and pages on other topics are collected in the ratings section.

Five general workshops, two for body work, one for engines and one for a single make

  • Five of the nine do ordinary servicing and repairs, and you find them in all three areas.
  • Two are body shops: body repair and paint, not servicing.
  • One is an engine shop that overhauls engines and sells engine parts.
  • One is a service centre for a single electric car make.

The general workshops are the largest group. The one in Bråvannsløkka belongs to a workshop chain, and the chain page lists servicing, fault-finding, oil changes, brakes, air-conditioning service and tyres (read on 6 October 2026). Of the two general workshops in Lund, one lists servicing, diagnostics, oil changes and air-conditioning service on its website, while the card for the other mentions servicing and repairs on all makes. For the workshop in Kartheia and the general workshop in Barstølveien we found no website of their own, so there the description in the card is what tells you what they take on.

The body shops are in two different groups: one in Bråvannskleiva and one in Nye Teglverks vei. The cards describe body repair, painting and repair of body parts, from small scratches to collision damage. The card for the one in Vågsbygd has neither opening hours nor a website, only a phone number.

The engine shop in Barstølveien stands apart from the rest. Its website (read on 6 October 2026) mentions overhaul, surface grinding and pressure testing of cylinder heads, crankshaft grinding and cylinder boring with honing, and the same building has a shop for engine parts. This covers engines from passenger cars as well as lorries, buses and tractors, while ordinary servicing is not on the list.

The service centre in Avenyen belongs to a single electric car make and shares its address with the brand store. The opening hours and phone number listed there are for sales, and how service is booked is not confirmed as of October 2026. For electric cars of other makes, one workshop in Lund writes that it takes them, and its card names one make as an exception.

Open early, closed early: opening hours and booking

  • The workshops open between 07:00 and 08:00 and close at 15:30 or 16:00.
  • None of the cards shows Saturday opening.
  • According to its card, the workshop in Kartheia stays open until 18:00 on Thursdays.
  • Two general workshops take bookings online; at most of the others you call.

The working day at the workshops starts early and ends early. According to the cards and the workshops' own websites (read on 6 October 2026), the chain workshop in Bråvannsløkka opens at 07:00, the three in Lund and the engine shop at 07:30, and the three others with opening hours in the card at 08:00. Closing time is 15:30 or 16:00, so the car usually has to be dropped off before work and collected before the working day is over. Thursday in Kartheia is the exception, open until 18:00 according to the card.

You can book online at two of them: the chain workshop in Bråvannsløkka has a booking button on the chain page, and the workshop in Kongsgård alle has a booking page of its own. The latter also gives both a switchboard number and a direct number. Otherwise the phone number in the card is the way in, and the engine shop has an e-mail address as well.

The periodic roadworthiness test (EU-kontroll) is mentioned by three of the general workshops, two in Lund and the one in Bråvannsløkka. We have not looked into approvals, so ask the workshop whether the test is done on site. The cards do not give prices.

Questions and answers

Where in Kristiansand are the car repair workshops on this page?

In three areas: Vågsbygd and Kartheia west of the centre, Lund a couple of kilometres north-east of Torvet, and Sørlandsparken eight to nine kilometres to the east. The street address is in each card.

Is there a car workshop in Lund with online booking?

Yes, the workshop in Kongsgård alle has online booking on its website (read on 6 October 2026). The two in Nye Teglverks vei give a phone number.

Are the two workshops at Nye Teglverks vei 42 the same firm?

No. They share a street address but each has its own name, phone number and website: one does servicing and repairs, the other body repair and paint.

Are the workshops open on Saturdays?

No, none of the cards shows Saturday opening. The electric car brand's store in Avenyen is open on Saturdays from 10:00 to 15:00 according to the brand's own page (read on 6 October 2026), but that is sales and not the service centre.

Where can I have an engine overhauled or a cylinder head ground?

At the engine shop in Barstølveien in Sørlandsparken. It lists overhaul and surface grinding of cylinder heads, crankshaft grinding and cylinder boring, and is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 15:30.

Which workshop takes electric cars?

The service centre in Avenyen takes its own make, and one workshop in Lund writes that it takes electric cars. The card for that workshop names one make as an exception, so say which car you have when you call.

When do the car workshops close in the afternoon?

At 15:30 or 16:00 on weekdays, according to the cards. The workshop in Kartheia is open until 18:00 on Thursdays.

How we put this page together

The workshops on this page were chosen by the NorgeGuide editors. Payment affects neither the selection nor the order. The order within the groups is free and says nothing about quality: the editors do not assess the work the workshops do.
