Car repair in Fredrikstad: 9 workshops at Råbekken, by Gressvik and in Veumveien

Car repair workshops in Fredrikstad are most densely gathered at Råbekken, by Rolvsøyveien, road 109 towards Sarpsborg: most of the workshops on this page have an address there. Two lie north-west of the centre, in Industriveien and at Gressvik, and a paint shop is based in Veumveien. The page separates workshops for service and the periodic EU inspection (EU-kontroll) from workshops for body damage, paint and rust protection, and shows who opens early and who takes bookings online. Which group suits you

The page is useful if the car is due for a service or an EU inspection, if you would rather have a workshop in the north-west of town, or if damage, a paint job or rust needs dealing with.

Six addresses at Råbekken, two by Gressvik and one in Veumveien

• Råbekken: six of the workshops lie within about 800 metres of each other, about 4 kilometres north of the railway station as the crow flies.
• Industriveien 1 and Storveien 5 are about 270 metres apart and about 3 kilometres north-west of the station.
• The paint shop in Veumveien is closest to the centre, about 1.7 kilometres from the station.

At Råbekken the workshops are in Stabburveien, Råbekksvingen, Smørbøttaveien and Rolvsøyveien. The centre in Stabburveien explains the way like this on its website (read 7 October 2026): drive north-east on road 109, Rolvsøyveien, towards Sarpsborg and Wilbergjordet, and use the entrance at the back of the building, on the side facing the road. From Stabburveien 7 it is about 200 metres to Råbekksvingen 2 and about 300 metres to Rolvsøyveien 207.

In the north-west of town two workshops lie close together but have different postal towns: Industriveien 1 has the town itself as its postal town, Storveien 5 has 1624 Gressvik. The paint shop in Veumveien stands on its own, roughly midway between the centre and Industriveien.

Who does what: EU inspection, make specialist, assessment and paint

• The EU inspection is on the websites of four workshops: two at Råbekken, the one in Industriveien and the one at Gressvik.
• The chain workshop in Rolvsøyveien names Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda as its speciality but takes all makes.
• The workshop in Industriveien writes that it is an electric and hybrid car workshop.
• The damage centre in Smørbøttaveien assesses minor damage while you wait.

The centre in Stabburveien does the EU inspection and re-inspection of vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, service on most makes, repairs and tests of used cars before purchase. The chain workshop in Rolvsøyveien lists the EU inspection, service, fault-finding, A/C service, brakes, wheel alignment check, automatic gearbox flushing, windscreens, paint and tyres. The third workshop at Råbekken, at Råbekksvingen 2, has a website that would not open when we checked, so there the phone number in the card applies.

In the north-west of town the offer is almost the same. The workshop in Industriveien has the EU inspection, service, A/C service, wheel alignment check and replacement of wear parts for all makes. The one at Gressvik has service, repairs and the EU inspection for all makes, and in addition sells tyres and rims and has a tyre hotel. They belong to two different workshop chains.

Damage and paint are trades of their own. The damage centre in Smørbøttaveien does straightening and paint and writes that an assessment of minor and moderate damage normally takes 30 to 45 minutes and is done while you wait. The chain behind the workshop at Råbekksvingen 4 takes small paint and body damage and has a form for price quotes online. The cards for Veumveien and Råbekksvingen 3 describe car painting and rust protection, and neither of the two has a website.

Open from seven: opening hours, booking and key drop

• Earliest: the damage centre in Smørbøttaveien, 7:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday.
• From 7:30: the centre in Stabburveien (until 16:00) and the workshop in Industriveien (until 15:30).
• The workshop at Gressvik is open 8:00 to 16:00 and says it is closed at weekends.
• None of the workshops states Saturday opening.

These hours are on the workshops' own sites (read 7 October 2026). For the rest we have only a snapshot from Google Maps on Monday 5 October 2026, shortly after 16:00. At that time the paint shop in Veumveien and the workshop at Råbekksvingen 2 were closed and listed as opening at 7:30 the next day, the workshops in Rolvsøyveien and at Råbekksvingen 4 at 8:00, while the rust protection workshop at Råbekksvingen 3 was listed as open until 18:00.

Booking works in different ways. The centre in Stabburveien has online booking for the EU inspection and re-inspection, the chain workshop in Rolvsøyveien has a booking button, and the damage centre in Smørbøttaveien takes assessment bookings online. The workshops in Industriveien and at Gressvik use a contact form or the phone.

If you need to hand in the car before work, the arrangement in Stabburveien is the one best described: the key drop is to the left of the entrance door, and a key machine lets you collect the key outside opening hours. Elsewhere, ask about drop-off when you book.
