This page lists car repair workshops in Trondheim, arranged by the kind of work they take: servicing and repairs, several trades in one building, and damage, paint and small repairs. It helps you find the right type of workshop before you book: each card has an address, a phone number and a short description, and the link to the workshop's website is in the card.

How the groups are divided: mechanical work, several trades in one building, or damage and paint

  • The groups say what kind of work a workshop takes, not how good the work is.
  • Servicing and repairs here means oil, brakes, fault-finding, electrics, exhaust and tyres.
  • Bodywork and paint is a trade of its own: these workshops straighten and paint, but do not necessarily do servicing.
  • Most of the addresses are south of the centre, and two are in the east of the city.

The main dividing line runs between workshops that keep a car running and workshops that put damage right. The first group takes servicing and mechanical and electrical repairs: according to the workshops' own websites (read on 5 and 6 October 2026), that includes oil changes, brakes, fault-finding, air conditioning, exhausts and tyres. The last group takes bodywork and paint, and one of the workshops there keeps to small cosmetic repairs such as parking dents, minor paint damage, plastics and interiors.

The middle group is for those who want more done in one place. It holds a workshop that does servicing, bodywork and paint, and a workshop at a car dealer that also has tyre storage. At the dealer, the workshop and the car sales have separate opening hours, so look for the line that applies to the workshop.

On the map, most of them are south of the centre of Trondheim, between three and seven kilometres from Midtbyen as the crow flies: in Tempevegen and Sørenga, in Fossegrenda and Nordslettvegen, in Forsøkslia and, furthest west, in Nils Uhlin Hansens veg. Two are in the east of the city, at Lade and at Leangen, three to four kilometres from Midtbyen.

This page is a selection, not a complete list. The catalogue category Auto Repair & Maintenance Services holds around sixty cards from across the city, and guides on other topics are gathered in the ratings section.

Booking, opening hours and handing over the car

  • Three of the workshops for servicing and repairs have online booking, and the fourth gives a phone number and an email address.
  • A form on the website is a request: the time is agreed afterwards.
  • Usual opening hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 or 17:00.
  • Two workshops open as early as 07:00 and 07:30, and Saturday opening is the exception.

How you book depends on the workshop. Three of the four in the first group have online booking with this particular workshop, while the fourth gives a phone number and an email address. In the middle group you send a request by form, with the car and the work you want, and the time is confirmed when the workshop gets in touch.

Opening hours are much alike. According to the workshops' own websites (read on 5 and 6 October 2026), most are open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00, and a couple until 17:00. The two in the middle group open at 07:00 and 07:30 and close at 16:30 and 15:30. The workshop for small repairs stands out: it takes cars in from 12:00 to 18:00, and the office keeps separate hours in the morning. One workshop lists Saturday opening from 10:00 to 14:00. The hours on the card may differ from the workshop's own page, so look at the website before you go.

Agree how the car is handed over and collected as well. One of the workshops says the key can be dropped off around the clock, but that does not mean anyone works on the car at night: the opening hours are the same. Ask when the car will be ready and how you will be told if the workshop finds more that should be done. One of the chain workshops itself writes that no work is carried out without the customer's approval.

Winter, road salt, electric cars and the EU inspection: what to ask about

  • Road salt and damp wear on brakes and the underbody: a check after the winter is a common reason to book.
  • Electric or hybrid car: give the make and model, because what is offered varies from workshop to workshop.
  • The EU inspection (EU-kontroll) appears on several cards, but ask whether the inspection is carried out on site.
  • The cards do not give prices: ask for an estimate before you hand over the car.

Winter leaves its mark on cars in the city. One of the workshops writes on its own page that the roads here are salted for large parts of the winter half of the year, and that damp and salt cause rust and uneven wear on the brake discs: many drivers notice vibrations or weaker brakes when spring comes. The workshop for small repairs lists rust-proofing as an important part of what it offers, precisely because of the salting.

If you drive an electric or hybrid car, not every workshop is equally relevant. Several of the workshops on this page say themselves that they take such cars, but the cards do not say which models and which jobs that covers. So give the make and model when you book. If the car is still under warranty, ask what a service at an independent workshop means for the warranty.

The EU inspection (EU-kontroll, the periodic roadworthiness test) is mentioned on several of the cards, but that is not the same as the workshop carrying out the inspection itself. One workshop writes that it helps with preparing the car and getting it through, and one of the chains says it offers the EU inspection in six other cities and will introduce it at all its workshops during 2026. So ask whether the inspection is done on site.

The workshops on this page are chosen by the NorgeGuide editorial team. Payment affects neither the selection nor the order. The order within the groups is free and says nothing about quality: the editorial team does not assess the work the workshops carry out.
